What’s the Big Deal About the Vet MX International Race?
Are you tired of spending all day to get a few minutes on the track a couple of times, then go home with energy left? If so, then you can take on the challenge of a three-moto Saturday AND a two-moto Sunday. Now that’s racing!!
We’re not talking 8 to 10 minutes per moto here … you’ll race for 15 to 22 minutes PER MOTO, depending on your class and age. Yep, you’ll be racing against people in your class AND in 10-year age groups. Novice classes race for 15 minutes, Intermediates for 15 – 18 minutes, Experts for 15 – 20 minutes and Masters endure for 15 – up to 22 minutes.
AZOT’s Oldtimer International Race will be on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26 at Motoland MX Park in Casa Grande. Overnight camping will be $15 for the weekend and you can get some practice in on Friday for $35.
Find your class / age and get ready. Classes are Novice, Intermediate, Expert and Master by age of 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+ and, yes, you’re seeing 75+ and 80+. One requirement, you do have to be a member of the AZOT Motocross club to race in the OT Vet MX International. More about that below.
If you’re too young for the official Vet MX classes, no problem. There are Support classes for the "youngins." Only qualifier is only big bikes on the track for the weekend. Sorry kids, this will be a cheering-from-the-stands-only event. Maybe you can wear your relative’s free T-shirt that comes with every early entry; also with late/day-of entries as long as supplies last.
After racing on Saturday, you’ll get a free dinner from the on-site food truck. You and your family/friends can also buy food from the vendor. After dinner, it’s raffle-time! You could be taking home some gear, parts, tires or gift certificates.
It’s easy to register – just go to azotmotocross.com, click on “International” to complete the registration and even pay online. Remember – you do have to be a member of one of the eleven Vet MX clubs to race in the Vet MX Internationals.
If for some reason you can’t commit ahead of time, you can sign up and pay on Friday afternoon or even early Saturday morning race day. But timing can get close if there’s a lot of last-minute registrations, and it’s best to sign up well ahead of time. You don’t want to end up in the wrong class or even missing practice!

If you get hooked on that tough International format, as an AZOT member you can compete in any of the eleven other International races. Next after ours is SoCal at Glen Helen in March. April's line-up is Las Vegas at Sandy Valley, and then Nevada and Sierra. Lots of great tracks, including Washougal and Hangtown and even a couple in Canada!
