Richard started riding a taco mini bike with a lawnmower engine so he had to pull a rope to start it. Then when he was 12 or 13 years old he saved enough money from his paper route to buy his 1st dirt bike so he started to ride in the oil fields near his house and then when he entered high school….he & some of his friends started a Motocross club and eventually they raced against other schools at Orange county International raceway.

He was hooked as soon as he put his leg over his 1st bike! He was a frequent rider & racer at the Saddleback motocross park. He met many riders who eventually became professional motocross riders like Jeff Ward, Donny Hanson, Jim Gibson, Bob Hannah & Danny Magoo Chandler.

Richard has raced 2 of the AZOT International races and fulfilled 1 of his life-long motocross dreams to race at Hangtown in Rancho Cordova where he took a 2nd overall.

When I asked Richard how competitive he is when it comes to racing Motocross…he said he was a 10 for sure but If he loses he always goes home and analyzes what he did wrong so he can make improvements the next time.

2nd photo: The photo of Richard in his uniform was taken in 1988 with his daughters Rachel and Rebecca.  I love them so much and would do anything for them.  Unfortunately, his oldest daughter Rachel passed away in Feb 2023 but her memory lives on and he will never forget her. She would always ask him how his racing was going and would yell at him if he got injured.  Richard plans to put her name on both of his bikes in her memory.

3rd photo: Was in 1981 when he raced Amateur Supercross on a Yamaha YZ250 in the Intermediate class where he placed 12th out of over 200 riders.
